Landin's GI Appointment

At the beginning of August we finally got to see a GI specialist for his Acid Reflux Disease! The doctor we saw had a long waiting list on top of the time it took to get the referral. The doctor discovered that Landin has a milk allergy (different than Lactose Intolerance). So basically that has been causing his acid reflux, frequent colds and infections and sleepless nights. I never knew this but 70% of your immune system is in your GI track. The doctor said that Landin most likely has this due to my horrible pregnancy with him, specifically my inability to keep down dairy while I'm pregnant. Landin is now on two new medicatons, one is an antihistamine and the other is for his acid reflux. We also have taken all dairy out of his diet. We have been very strict on reading labels and making sure there is no milk products in his food. We have had to change the bread we eat and I have had to come up with new dinners and be creative with snacks. Thankfully Landin has enjoyed soy milk, soy and coconut yogurt, homemade coconut icecream, and veggie cheese (yuck). If there is a meal that calls for cheese or dairy in it I will usually omit that or remove a portion for Landin before I add the dairy. The major downfall with all of this is our grocery budget is having to be increased. I bought 4 things at WholeFoods the other day and the total was $23. That is a quarter of our weekly budget. Another reason why we have to increase our budget it because one of the side effects of his medications is increased appetite. Lets just say that he eats just as much as me at each meal. There are many times where I just have to stop him from eating because I know he is going to get a belly ache from all the food he is putting in there. Aside from the downfalls, I have to give HUGE praise that we finally have a little boy that is sleeping through the night and is much more happier at times that he would normally be very uncomfortable!!!!! I recently saw a saying that said, 'NO RAIN, NO RAINBOW'.  It has honestly been one the hardest years for me but I can honestly say that we are having more good nights than bad and God has really been there through it all!

A little piece of heaven! This coconut ice cream was SOOO good! Not to mention it has way less fat and calories than normal ice cream and NO DAIRY!. We are making it again this week!

  1. So glad Landin is sleeping through the night and you know what has been bothering the poor kiddo. You're such a good mom coming up with snacks, meals and desserts that are tasty and enjoyable for him!

Wonderful little company!

Yesterday I had the honor to watch Nathan. Nathan's parents are Matt and Sonya, friends from our small group at church. We had a blast all afternoon. Both the boys didn't take naps so I thought it was going to be a rough afternoon but I think they got energy from one another. I was nervous for dinner time too but they both did great. Both ate like champs...even ate their vegetables!  I put these two to work right away lol Busy building something great! We went outside for a bit. It was hard to keep these two together in the front so we headed out back! Nathan loved exploring! Showing me a sweet rock that he found! Jamin exploring too! Wondering where he should go next. There are so many things to see in our backyard  The boys looking at the rocks and weeds lol Nathan showing Jamin the treasure (weed) that he found! We played on the swings for a while too. One would be in this swing while I held the other in the other swing! (Sorry my...

I couldn't really think of a title for this post so I decided to just states the dates lol. Last week Jamin and I went to Focus on the Family with our friends Sonya and Nathan. I just got done reading Bringing Up Boys which was written by the Founder of Focus on the Family, Dr. James Dobson. Although Focus on the Family is a place I would hear about while growing up, I really didn't know a lot about it. My friend Sonya went to their Institute and so our trip planning began to go visit it! Group picture after taking the tour We can never get a great shot of the boys lol These were taken in their really awesome play area! Love this picture! Stroller parking!!! A smile that makes my heart melt everytime! Jamin and Nathan Mommy was way too big for this little boat lol Silly faces  We also went to the zoo with Sonya and Nathan last week. Here are a few pictures! We even go the moose in the picture! Jamin got scared of the big hippo :( ...

Road Trip Part 5

Monday morning rolled around and we decided to make our way from Bozeman down to the West Yellowstone Entrance. The drive was amazingly gorgeous!  Just driving in Harvey!  We made it to West Yellowstone but were turned away from two different RV parks because of the amount of kids we had with us. This was the first time I have ever felt looked down upon and discriminated against. I literally had one man ripped a piece of paper out of my hands because he didn't even want to consider letting that many people stay in his park. I explained to him that they are all young and well behaved kids but apparently he has had way too many bad experiences with kids. We didn't let it get us down though. We finally found one that didn't have any concerns letting 4 adults come in with 5 kiddos. The place was actually brand new and the closest RV park to the west Yellowstone entrance so we really lucked out!!! After we got checked in we decided to go into the park ...
