I am not in Labor...Welcome Baby Dylin!

The entire week before my due date I started to have braxton hicks very close together (3-5 minutes) for a few hours each day and then they would completely go away. They completely stopped a couple days before my due date so I figured it was my body just getting baby into a better position. The day after my due date I had an appointment with our midwife and told her what had been going on the week before. She asked if she could check me just to make sure. I was 4cm dilated and very low. From past experience I knew not to get me hopes up because I tend to go late and have long labors. She told me that if I started having those braxton hicks contractions again that she wanted me to call her. Later on in the day I started having them again but they just felt like normal braxton hicks so I put the boys down for a nap and took a nap myself. I started to feel that they were coming very close so I stayed in bed and started to time them...to my surprise they were coming a minute apart. I texted Kyle to let him know so that he didn't leave his phone somewhere or head up to Denver. I called our midwife and when she asked if she could come to our house to check me I told her that it would be a waste of her time because I wasn't in labor. She told me that she would feel better if she came out to check me and then head home if she needed to so I agreed. She got here about 5:30pm and I was 6cm dilated. So I thought to myself, maybe I am in labor. Kyle came home and we all just waited. I remember making several jokes and just stated that I feel like this could go on for days and I feel bad that everyone was just waiting. I told our midwife that we should all just sit down and watch a movie or play a card game because I felt fine and not in labor. At 7:15pm our midwife checked me again and I was still at 6cm. However, she told me that my water bag was bulging really bad and asked how I felt about breaking my water. I know that if she broke my water I would definitely be having a baby soon. I talked it over with Kyle and thought to myself, 'well, if that's what is going to get things started...let's do it'. So she broke my water shortly after and an hour later we welcomed Dylin Joseph VanHorn! It's crazy that I was only in true labor for about an hour...I never thought that would happen to me. It was a very intense hour and we didn't even have the birthing tub filled up all the way before I HAD to get in because he was coming. It was my best labor and delivery yet and it has been the fasted recovery too! I couldn't ask for a better experience.

Road Trip Part 5

Monday morning rolled around and we decided to make our way from Bozeman down to the West Yellowstone Entrance. The drive was amazingly gorgeous!  Just driving in Harvey!  We made it to West Yellowstone but were turned away from two different RV parks because of the amount of kids we had with us. This was the first time I have ever felt looked down upon and discriminated against. I literally had one man ripped a piece of paper out of my hands because he didn't even want to consider letting that many people stay in his park. I explained to him that they are all young and well behaved kids but apparently he has had way too many bad experiences with kids. We didn't let it get us down though. We finally found one that didn't have any concerns letting 4 adults come in with 5 kiddos. The place was actually brand new and the closest RV park to the west Yellowstone entrance so we really lucked out!!! After we got checked in we decided to go into the park ...
