Advent Day 7: Cherish It! We read about the legend of the Silver Pine cone and then made silver pine cones. In the years past we have stuck with silver or one year the boys did Bronco colors. This year, I wanted to make the pine cones into ornaments to put on our tree so we made silver/white flocked pine cones and then hot glued twine to them! They came out beautiful!
Day 8: Discover it. We talked about how Jesus and his eternal love. I asked the boys to think of something that might represent His eternal love...especially something we see more of during Christmas time. After a few hints, they guessed the wreath! We later made wreaths with construction paper and colored tissue paper and then gave them to friends!
Day 9: Jingle it! This is another fun day that the boys could remember us doing last year! We tied jingle bells to our shoes and the boys loved going shopping and to school with jingle noises!
Day 10: Send it! Today we worked on Christmas cards together and sent them out. The boys made little Christmas puppies and Landin helped me address and stamp the envelopes! They all had fun shoving all the cards into the little slot on our mailbox!
Day 11: Learn it! Today we learned about how the candy cane came about and what each part represents! I love this beautiful and yummy symbol of Christ!
Day 12: Illustrate it! Today we read about Jesus's birth from Matthew and then the boys got to color or draw pictures. Landin was the only one who got into the picture portion.
Day 13: Gift it! Today the boys brought home made and special gifts to their teachers at their STEM school. I loved seeing their nervousness and excitement as they handed their teachers their gifts!
Day 14: See it! This is one of our favorite days every year! We get the party bus and take our small group out to see the lights around the city! Everyone enjoys hot cocoa and cookies!
Day 15 Bake it! Today we baked 3 different kinds of banana bread for our neighbors! The boys are hit or miss with helping mommy bake. We talked about our favorite things to cook/bake together and our Chicken Kale Soup had the most votes!
Day 16: Deliver it! The boys delivered our homemade banana breads and cards and crafts to our neighbors! Kyle and I loved watching their excitement as they took each box to our neighbors!
Day 17: Build it! I think this is one of the boys favorite days! Building a gingerbread house! They all went crazy and loaded it up! I think next year, I may try to have 3 small ones or make one from scratch!
