Jesus took the wheel- May Adventure

We were set to leave on a short vacation to Estes Park on Friday morning in May. Food/meals were all made and ready to be packed inside the RV, everything else was ready to go. We originally decided not to bring Malachi but changed our minds that morning so I called the RV park to let them know. When I called I was surprised by them telling us that they got 4 feet of snow the night before and have trees and power lines down. Ugh, now what? I called Kyle joking that we should head south instead because every RV trip we take, its wet or freezing. Well, the joke turned into reality and as soon as Kyle got home at lunch time, we simply headed south. Not knowing exactly where we would end up, we just knew we were ready for the adventure! We made it to Trinidad around dinner time so we decided to stop and eat in the Walmart parking lot there. We were searching the internet and found that just 1.5 hours away, there was a volcano in New Mexico! What?! The boys love Volcanoes so we decided to stay put in Trinidad's Walmart parking lot and when we woke up, we headed south again! We ended up breaking down on Raton Pass...lol. It took about an hour for the RV to cool down enough and stop smoking. we got Harvey started and were off again! We reached the Capulin Volcano around lunch time! They wouldn't let the RV up to the top because it was too long to turn around so we hiked around the base. The boys loved finding lava rocks but were a little disappointed that we couldn't go to the top. Overall, it was a fun time and we are so thankful we found this random gem! After that, we saw that an hour east of Capulin Volcano, there was a lake and dinosaur fossil footprints! Another great find! So we set out for that! We ended up fishing there and the boys loved seeing the dinosaur footprints. Kyle lost the RV keys so he had to backtrack everywhere around the lake we had been. Thankfully he found them on some rocks we were hiking on. After fishing and exploring, we looked at the map and saw that 1.5 hours away in Amarillo Texas, there was a Cane's! We LOVE Raising Cane's and this restaraunt is one of the main reasons we head up to Fort Collins every year. So, for dinner, we headed to Amarillo! We decided to stay the night there and explore the town the next morning. They have a great zoo there! Nothing like Denver Zoo or Cheyenne Mountain zoo but no one was there and everything was close! It was so stress free and fun to not have crowds and be able to do all the activities they offer at the zoo! We ate at Cane's one more time before heading north to Oklahoma! We didn't stay there long before heading to Kansas! We stayed the night there and then headed back to Colorado in the morning. WOW! What an unexpected trip! This is the trip that inspired us to make it a goal to visit all 50 states by the time the boys graduate high school...we are guessing Alaska and Hawaii will be graduation gifts! 6 states down....44 to go! Thank you Lord for this amazing unplanned adventure! We got to see things that we would have had no idea about! We are looking forward to all the adventures this one will lead to!

The pictures are out of order but mainly posting them for our memories!

Wonderful little company!

Yesterday I had the honor to watch Nathan. Nathan's parents are Matt and Sonya, friends from our small group at church. We had a blast all afternoon. Both the boys didn't take naps so I thought it was going to be a rough afternoon but I think they got energy from one another. I was nervous for dinner time too but they both did great. Both ate like champs...even ate their vegetables!  I put these two to work right away lol Busy building something great! We went outside for a bit. It was hard to keep these two together in the front so we headed out back! Nathan loved exploring! Showing me a sweet rock that he found! Jamin exploring too! Wondering where he should go next. There are so many things to see in our backyard  The boys looking at the rocks and weeds lol Nathan showing Jamin the treasure (weed) that he found! We played on the swings for a while too. One would be in this swing while I held the other in the other swing! (Sorry my...

I couldn't really think of a title for this post so I decided to just states the dates lol. Last week Jamin and I went to Focus on the Family with our friends Sonya and Nathan. I just got done reading Bringing Up Boys which was written by the Founder of Focus on the Family, Dr. James Dobson. Although Focus on the Family is a place I would hear about while growing up, I really didn't know a lot about it. My friend Sonya went to their Institute and so our trip planning began to go visit it! Group picture after taking the tour We can never get a great shot of the boys lol These were taken in their really awesome play area! Love this picture! Stroller parking!!! A smile that makes my heart melt everytime! Jamin and Nathan Mommy was way too big for this little boat lol Silly faces  We also went to the zoo with Sonya and Nathan last week. Here are a few pictures! We even go the moose in the picture! Jamin got scared of the big hippo :( ...

Road Trip Part 5

Monday morning rolled around and we decided to make our way from Bozeman down to the West Yellowstone Entrance. The drive was amazingly gorgeous!  Just driving in Harvey!  We made it to West Yellowstone but were turned away from two different RV parks because of the amount of kids we had with us. This was the first time I have ever felt looked down upon and discriminated against. I literally had one man ripped a piece of paper out of my hands because he didn't even want to consider letting that many people stay in his park. I explained to him that they are all young and well behaved kids but apparently he has had way too many bad experiences with kids. We didn't let it get us down though. We finally found one that didn't have any concerns letting 4 adults come in with 5 kiddos. The place was actually brand new and the closest RV park to the west Yellowstone entrance so we really lucked out!!! After we got checked in we decided to go into the park ...
