I wanted to write a couple blog posts of our amazing pregnancy, labor and delivery. This is mostly for me to look back on but I thought I would share it for anyone who is interested. I always think it is a great idea to track my belly growth by taking pictures each week but once my nausea kicks in, I fall behind because I am just not feeling well enough to get ready and take a picture of myself. I was better when I was pregnant with Jamin but still lacked in consistency....so instead I have some lovely pictures of food that illustrate how big the baby is lol. This might be the longest post ever but here it goes....
November 7, 2011 I decided to take a pregnancy test because the day before I was trying on bridesmaid dresses and the thought came across my mind that I haven't had a period in 7 weeks. I wanted to make sure I wasn't pregnant before I put the order in on my dress. Immediately after finding out that we were pregnant again, Kyle called me from work...I can never keep a secret so I spilled the beans to him right away.
November 11/12, 2011 We told both our families. I was ecstatic because at the time I thought I was around 8 weeks pregnant and was still not feeling sick! I started feeling really sick around 6 weeks with Jamin. Our due date was June 25, 2012.
November 14, 2011 We had our first appointment with a new midwife at the same practice as with Jamin. Our old midwife had left to pursue her doctorate. We met our new midwife, Robyn. When she was feeling my uterus she made the comment that it didn't feel like an 8 week uterus and she was also unable to find a heart beat so she sent us in for an immediate ultrasound. It turned out that we were only 3 or 4 weeks pregnant. Yikes...this was going to be a long pregnancy.
November 21, 2011 We went in for another ultrasound and got our official due date- July 13, 2012! Did I also mention that I was officially sick by this appointment? All the same constant nausea and vomiting as with Jamin.
November 25, 2011 7 weeks pregnant. Baby is the size of a blueberry. I'm feeling exhausted and the guilt of not being able to play with Jamin like I want to sets in.
December 2, 2011 8 weeks pregnant. Baby is the size of a large raspberry.
December 9, 2011 9 weeks pregnant. Baby is the size of medium green olive.
December 16, 2011 10 weeks pregnant. Baby is the size of a prune. Had an appointment this week. Everything went great and baby's heart beat is in the 170s. I have also developed a weird rash on my body. It is related to pregnancy and should go away in the next few months.
December 23, 2011 11 weeks pregnant. Baby is around 2 inches long!
December 30, 2011 12 weeks pregnant. Baby is the size of a large fresh plum.
January 6, 2012 13 weeks pregnant. Baby is the size of a peach. This is the end of the first trimester. I was hoping that some of my sickness would go away starting at this point but it didn't. I also started to to have issues with my gums bleeding (a somewhat common problem related to pregnancy).
January 13, 2012 14 weeks pregnant. Baby is the size of my clenched fist. We had another appointment this week. Everything is looking great still. Baby's heart beat is in the 160s. Our midwife said that it would be okay if I didn't floss for the next 9 months because of my bleeding gums. Praying that I don't get any cavities during this pregnancy lol.
January 20, 2012 15 weeks pregnant. Baby is the size of a naval orange.
January 27, 2012 16 weeks pregnant. Starting to think I can feel the baby moving!
February 3, 2012 17 weeks pregnant. Baby is about the size of my palm.
February 10, 2012 18 weeks pregnant. Baby is about the size of the chicken breast we had for dinner tonight!
February 17, 2012 19 weeks pregnant. Baby is about the size of a large mango.
February 24, 2012 20 weeks pregnant. Baby is the size of a small cantaloupe. We had our 20 week ultrasound this week. Baby is long and looking a lot like Jamin did. The only difference is that the baby is measure 21 1/2 weeks! Jamin was measure only 19 weeks at our 20 week ultrasound with him. I start to get the feeling that this is either going to be a much bigger baby than Jamin or I will have this baby closer to my original due date of June 25!
March 2, 2012 21 weeks pregnant. Baby is about the size of a banana.
March 9, 2012 22 weeks pregnant. Baby is about the size of a small doll.
March 16, 2012 23 weeks pregnant. Baby is packing on the pounds now and so am I lol. By the end of this month the baby will double in weight. I usually gain the most weight in this month. The baby now has fat cells forming which is why it will double in weight.
March 23, 2012 24 weeks pregnant. Baby has graduated from fruit and is the size of a standard letter now. Had another appointment this week. Robyn, our midwife, told us that she has had some recent family emergencies come up and so she has decided to leave the practice. I leave the appointment wondering what God has planned for us. I make an appointment with one of the doctors in the office but feel extremely uncertain about it. The praying begins for God to reveal his plan to us.
March 30, 2012 25 weeks pregnant. Still praying and starting to see God open some doors!
April 6, 2012 26 weeks pregnant. Kyle and I have decided to go with what my heart has been telling me since I was pregnant with Jamin. We are wanting to do a home birth at this point! I call a midwife in town that I've been looking at since before I was pregnant with Jamin. Her name is Jessica and she is known to book up fast. There is a joke that all the women who do a home birth with Jessica, call her before telling their husbands that they are pregnant. God reveals his plan to us this day. She has an opening for one client due in July because just the day before I called another client, also due in July, told her she was moving to Florida. Praise God!
April 13, 2012 27 weeks pregnant. We meet with Jessica for a free consultation. I immediately feel comfortable and am 100% secure in our decision to do a home birth!
April 20, 2012 28 weeks pregnant. We had our first official appointment with Jessica today. Jamin loved playing with all the toys in her office. Baby is doing great! Heart beat is in the 140s. Appointments will be every 2 weeks from now until 36 weeks.
April 27, 2012 29 weeks pregnant. Oh baby! My back is starting to hurt. This never happened with Jamin. Thinking with all these other pregnancy symptoms that I might be having a girl.
May 4, 2012 30 weeks pregnant. We had another appointment with Jessica. Baby's heart beat is in the high 130s/low 140s.
May 11, 2012 31 weeks pregnant. Right on time....my ankles are starting to swell and it is starting to get hot out. I'm feeling swollen all over lol.
May 18, 2012 32 weeks pregnant. We had another appointment with Jessica this week. Measuring 2 1/2 weeks bigger. Thinking this will be a bigger baby or come early!
May 24, 2012 33 weeks pregnant. Baby's first airplane ride! We are in Florida for the next 10 days! My ankles are so swollen that I can't even fit into my shoes for Jordan's wedding. My swollen feet are pretty painful because of the heat and all the walking around. I can't let that get in the way of our vacation!
June 1, 2012 34 weeks pregnant. Still in Florida and loving our family time. I love being in the water because it takes a lot of the weight off my feet and back. Baby is moving a lot!
June 8, 2012 35 weeks pregnant. Glad to be back home. Exhausted from taking care of our sick little Jamin. Had an appointment with Jessica today! Baby is still measuring big and heartbeat is in the 140s.
June 15, 2012 36 weeks pregnant. We had our home visit with Jessica today. She brought over the birthing tub and we showed her where all the supplies would be when she came to deliver the baby. I'm feeling ready now. Baby come soon!
June 22, 2012 37 weeks pregnant. Having weekly appointments now with Jessica. Took my Group B Strep test today and it was negative! No need for antibiotics during labor!
June 29, 2012 38 weeks pregnant. My pubic bone is starting to feel so loose. Hoping this means that baby is coming soon.
July 6, 2012 39 weeks pregnant. Can't tell if I'm going into false labor every night. I figured out it is because the hormone relaxin is making my pubic symphasis super unstable. My daily walks are creating a lot of movement and pain.
July 13, 2012 40 weeks pregnant. Well, I really thought that I would have had the baby by now. Praying that God makes this happen soon. Feeling like I've been pregnant for forever lol.
July 17, 2012 4 days past my due date. I wake up around 1:30am and can't tell if I'm feeling the same pain I've been in the past week or if I'm in labor. I get up and start taking some laps around the couch and try to see if there is any progression.
