Our Big Backyard

We decided to put turf in our backyard! It was always something Kyle joked about but then the opportunity came and we decided to take the risk. The turf we are putting in is from a stadium up in Denver that had the money to replace it early. All the black that you see is the rubber. We have a lot of extra but we are almost done with the install and our last step is sweeping up all the extra rubber. Kyle has been working really hard at cutting out all the white lines and numbers and piecing it together to make it look nice.
The boys are so interested in the process.

The process...

16 dump truck loads of dirt dropped off for the base.

Smoothing it out with the skid

Compacting it with the roller.

Getting the turf delivered and rolling it out...

This stuff is HEAVY....it really did take everyone to get it rolled out

A little side note....An exterminator had to come and spray our Ash Tree because bees had bore into it and laid their eggs. We noticed the tree wasn't coming back this year and then noticed all the larvae hatching out of it...gross.

He had to come back and spray it because it didn't work the first time...

Yay! Success! Bees still come around every once in a while but at least we got our tree back!

We are trying to get the turf all the way done by Landin's birthday! Final pictures to come...

Road Trip Part 5

Monday morning rolled around and we decided to make our way from Bozeman down to the West Yellowstone Entrance. The drive was amazingly gorgeous!  Just driving in Harvey!  We made it to West Yellowstone but were turned away from two different RV parks because of the amount of kids we had with us. This was the first time I have ever felt looked down upon and discriminated against. I literally had one man ripped a piece of paper out of my hands because he didn't even want to consider letting that many people stay in his park. I explained to him that they are all young and well behaved kids but apparently he has had way too many bad experiences with kids. We didn't let it get us down though. We finally found one that didn't have any concerns letting 4 adults come in with 5 kiddos. The place was actually brand new and the closest RV park to the west Yellowstone entrance so we really lucked out!!! After we got checked in we decided to go into the park ...
