Landin gets tubes in his ears

In June Landin went in for surgery to get tubes put in his ears. Up to that point he had had 5 ear infections in 4 months not including the one they found during surgery. We felt that it was necessary to get the surgery done to relieve him of all the pain he had been in for the past 4 months. Since the surgery he has not had any issues until the morning of his 12 month well-baby check up. When he woke up I found dried blood in his ears and when the doctor took a look she stated that they were both very infected right around the tubes. This puts him at risk for his tubes to fall out so we are giving him antibiotic drops in his ears twice a day and have a follow-up on Monday to see if they were able to heal back in the proper place.

These pictures are from 2 weeks before the surgery. Landin was very sick with a double ear infection.

The morning of the surgery
Trying to keep Landin busy and happy because we had to be there at 6am.

Checking his vitals

Kyle got to go back into the operating room for a couple minutes before surgery. They both look pretty darn cute in their gear!

Saying a little goodbye before he heads back.
The surgery went really fast and we were able to see him after he woke up from surgery. From the time we sat down in the waiting room to the time they came and got us it was less than 20 minutes. He had a hard time breathing with the anesthesia so the anesthesiologist decided not to give him any pain medication because he didn't want the risk of Landin to stop breathing. You can imagine how grumpy he was and in a ton of pain when he woke up. I was able to nurse him right away and the nurse gave him something for the pain.

Landin fell asleep on the way home and I was able to transfer him to his crib when we got home. He slept for an hour or so. The doctor had told me that I would most likely notice some drainage. Below is a picture of some of the drainage from when he was sleeping.
We have noticed a big difference in his health since that surgery and are happy with the results. One of the biggest unexpected results of the surgery was Landin's ability to hear and talk. The day after the surgery he was very clearly pronunciation several words. He may hve been saying them before the surgery but probably couldn't hear himself talking and I never understood what he was saying until after the surgery! The doctor did mention that he took A LOT of fluid out of both ears.

Wonderful little company!

Yesterday I had the honor to watch Nathan. Nathan's parents are Matt and Sonya, friends from our small group at church. We had a blast all afternoon. Both the boys didn't take naps so I thought it was going to be a rough afternoon but I think they got energy from one another. I was nervous for dinner time too but they both did great. Both ate like champs...even ate their vegetables!  I put these two to work right away lol Busy building something great! We went outside for a bit. It was hard to keep these two together in the front so we headed out back! Nathan loved exploring! Showing me a sweet rock that he found! Jamin exploring too! Wondering where he should go next. There are so many things to see in our backyard  The boys looking at the rocks and weeds lol Nathan showing Jamin the treasure (weed) that he found! We played on the swings for a while too. One would be in this swing while I held the other in the other swing! (Sorry my...

I couldn't really think of a title for this post so I decided to just states the dates lol. Last week Jamin and I went to Focus on the Family with our friends Sonya and Nathan. I just got done reading Bringing Up Boys which was written by the Founder of Focus on the Family, Dr. James Dobson. Although Focus on the Family is a place I would hear about while growing up, I really didn't know a lot about it. My friend Sonya went to their Institute and so our trip planning began to go visit it! Group picture after taking the tour We can never get a great shot of the boys lol These were taken in their really awesome play area! Love this picture! Stroller parking!!! A smile that makes my heart melt everytime! Jamin and Nathan Mommy was way too big for this little boat lol Silly faces  We also went to the zoo with Sonya and Nathan last week. Road Trip Part 5

Monday morning rolled around and we decided to make our way from Bozeman down to the West Yellowstone Entrance. The drive was amazingly gorgeous!  Just driving in Harvey!  We made it to West Yellowstone but were turned away from two different RV parks because of the amount of kids we had with us. This was the first time I have ever felt looked down upon and discriminated against. I literally had one man ripped a piece of paper out of my hands because he didn't even want to consider letting that many people stay in his park. I explained to him that they are all young and well behaved kids but apparently he has had way too many bad experiences with kids. We didn't let it get us down though. We finally found one that didn't have any concerns letting 4 adults come in with 5 kiddos. The place was actually brand new and the closest RV park to the west Yellowstone entrance so we really lucked out!!! After we got checked in we decided to go into the park ...
