Road Trip Part 6

I forgot to put this video in the last post but this is a description of Montana as told by Jamin!

October 1st...Government Shut down= no entrance to Yellowstone or the Grand Tetons :(
We still have a really awesome time, and I would have to say still the things we did that day were probably more exciting for everyone, especially the kids!

Jamin showing off his monster snot bubble at breakfast!

Thankfully we had the Grizzly and Wolf Discover Center right behind the RV park we were staying at!
The very short walk over

For some reason all of us would get the name of this place wrong every time we talked about it...This picture is so we will remember lol

Kyle with bears and boys and Iylah!

Landin our tour guide

Exploring inside! My camera battery died right when we got into the building but thankfully I just ran to the RV and got a backup! Didn't miss a thing!

Jamin loves these penny pincher machines!
Iylah having to help him get the crank around
Heading outside!
They have 13 bears here and rotate them outside. We came right when two were just getting called inside.

In between each set of bears, workers come out and put out food and fun things for the bears to play with
Two new bears came out!

VIDEO: Bear playing with a locked cooler...sorry for the quality of this video, I had a wiggly 1 year old in my arms

Look at this crazy bear heading into his cave for hibernation! lol
 a little baby bear too!
Just doing some exploring

Heading back to the playground! This was probably the kids favorite part!

There is Harvey and the RV park right behind the fence of the Discovery Center!
Just some playing!

A group picture before we head out!
We headed back for some lunch a play time at the RV
Our make-shift jump rope lol...didn't work to well with my two year old on one end lol

After lunch we wanted to go see another attraction that Megan had told us about...Quake Lake. In 1959 and 7.1 earthquake happened here and caused a massive slide into the valley and river below. The rocks and debris traveled 1/2 mile in 20 seconds and landed at just about the same height on the other side of the valley. The saddest part is that is killed the campers camping along the river below. Now you are probably wondering why it is called Quake Lake instead of Quake valley....The slide created a massive damn for the river flowing through the valley and destroyed a town upstream which is not a lake. It was very eerie seeing all the trees sticking out of the water and we have been told that when the water is low you can see rooftops of the houses that were in that town.
Whats left of the side of the mountain

View from the other side of the slide. They were eventually able to dig room for the river to go through this area but it was too late for the town behind us. Water rose at the rate of 20 feet per day.

Sorry I couldn't help myself...the sky was so beautiful!

Kyle look at the slide

Did I mention it was freezing? I still wanted a picture with my love

Looking down at Harvey from our short hike up to the monuments

You can see all the dead trees in the distance

Driving back...kiddos were being silly

Landin eating chips after an oreo if you can't tell.
Cherie made dinner that night so Kyle and I thought that we would take the kids on an adventure while she cooked. It was perfect timing to get all the kids out of the small space!
It was still freezing outside so we went to the laundry room to explore and warm up...lol the things that entertain kids lol

The 1st four buildings of this town!

Photo op!
Did I mention that it was also my birthday? Cherie prepared a perfect gluten free/dairy free cake that everyone enjoyed!

Let the crazy sugar rush party begin...

You can't tell in this picture but the balloons were awesome light up balloons!

Wonderful little company!

Yesterday I had the honor to watch Nathan. Nathan's parents are Matt and Sonya, friends from our small group at church. We had a blast all afternoon. Both the boys didn't take naps so I thought it was going to be a rough afternoon but I think they got energy from one another. I was nervous for dinner time too but they both did great. Both ate like champs...even ate their vegetables!  I put these two to work right away lol Busy building something great! We went outside for a bit. It was hard to keep these two together in the front so we headed out back! Nathan loved exploring! Showing me a sweet rock that he found! Jamin exploring too! Wondering where he should go next. There are so many things to see in our backyard  The boys looking at the rocks and weeds lol Nathan showing Jamin the treasure (weed) that he found! We played on the swings for a while too. One would be in this swing while I held the other in the other swing! (Sorry my...

4/20-4/24

I couldn't really think of a title for this post so I decided to just states the dates lol. Last week Jamin and I went to Focus on the Family with our friends Sonya and Nathan. I just got done reading Bringing Up Boys which was written by the Founder of Focus on the Family, Dr. James Dobson. Although Focus on the Family is a place I would hear about while growing up, I really didn't know a lot about it. My friend Sonya went to their Institute and so our trip planning began to go visit it! Group picture after taking the tour We can never get a great shot of the boys lol These were taken in their really awesome play area! Love this picture! Stroller parking!!! A smile that makes my heart melt everytime! Jamin and Nathan Mommy was way too big for this little boat lol Silly faces  We also went to the zoo with Sonya and Nathan last week. Here are a few pictures! We even go the moose in the picture! Jamin got scared of the big hippo :( ...

Road Trip Part 5

Monday morning rolled around and we decided to make our way from Bozeman down to the West Yellowstone Entrance. The drive was amazingly gorgeous!  Just driving in Harvey!  We made it to West Yellowstone but were turned away from two different RV parks because of the amount of kids we had with us. This was the first time I have ever felt looked down upon and discriminated against. I literally had one man ripped a piece of paper out of my hands because he didn't even want to consider letting that many people stay in his park. I explained to him that they are all young and well behaved kids but apparently he has had way too many bad experiences with kids. We didn't let it get us down though. We finally found one that didn't have any concerns letting 4 adults come in with 5 kiddos. The place was actually brand new and the closest RV park to the west Yellowstone entrance so we really lucked out!!! After we got checked in we decided to go into the park ...
