Oh boy,I have a TON of photos to go through and post about but I figured I might as well get started somewhere because I don't want to fall even more behind.
At the end of September we took off for quite the adventure with Kyle's brother, Craig and his family. We took Harvey the RV (an RV that Kyle's grandparents have given to the grandkids) and set off for Montana, Yellowstone National Forest, Grand Tetons, Jackson's Hole and the rest of Wyoming. We spent a total of 10 days on the trip that I whole-heartedly believe God planned, not us!...oh trust me, we had made plenty of plans but as the story unfolds you will get to see that it really was Jesus taking the wheel and all nine of us going along for an amazing ride!!!
Knowing 9 people were going to be sharing a small space I tried to make everything ahead and consolidate as much as possible....here is an example of some of our meals.
Getting ready to leave!
I bought some window markers to write fun things on the windows!
Adios Colorado!
A picture of our home for the next 10 days!
We made it up to Castle Pines and picked up the rest of the VanHorns!
Landin really enjoyed the window markers lol
Cherie made these amazing shirts for all the kids! They say 'VanHorn Family Road Trip 2013' with a picture of Harvey the RV on them!
Complete with names on the backs
Cherie also made cinnamon rolls for all of us! Even made some dairy free/gluten free ones for Josiah and Landin! Yummmm!!!
Our first stop! Lunch! Our neighbors gave us a large gift card to say thanks for being great neighbors and hosting their daughter's sweet 16 birthday at our house! We have amazing neighbors!...anywhoo we used the gift card to treat everyone to lunch at Johnson's Corner. We thought our road trip should start out right with stopping at an awesome truck stop!
You can seriously buy all of your family's birthday and Christmas gifts here....they had so much cool stuff!
Got to check out an awesome monster truck in the parking lot
The kids loved standing up front and watching all the cool things we drove by.
We made it to our first milestone....Colorado-Wyoming boarder!
Playing some games and building forts on our long trek up to Montana.
We stopped in Casper Wyoming for dinner and found this gem!
All our kids thought this was Disneyland! This place was so cool with all the props out front!
5 Amazing kiddos!
Wonder what it was like inside?? So do we lol....we never went inside to eat because we wanted a short, cheap meal so we went next door to Subway lol
For those who do not know what a GoPED is...it's basically a motorized scooter. I really wish I would have gotten a video of Kyle on his GoPED riding on the highway in the middle of the night, in the mountains with just a headlamp on....CLASSIC! It felt like a scene straight out of Dumb and Dumber!
We finally made it safely to Bozeman around 2:30am and stayed the night in the RV in a Walmart parking lot.
More to come.....

Ok I have to admit we probably did a lot of things that probably weren't legal while driving an RV but we had to keep rolling and it made for some memories that I'll never forget!
VIDEO: This is how we switch drivers on our road trip

We the weather started to turn on us at this point...it actually started to snow before we sat down for dinner. We set off for our last big stretch of driving to Bozeman, Montana. We were so excited because Harvey was getting awesome gas mileage. All the kids got to bed and things were going great! Before I went to bed I did a quick devotional and it was about allowing God to make our plans. I said a quick prayer that we would allow God to make the plans of this trip and trust in His perfect plan. It was truly an answered prayer!
Right about 1:00am we 'broke down' just 25 minutes shy of Bozeman. We thought that maybe the RV had ran out of gas despite the great gas mileage we had been getting. Kyle decided to strap on a headlamp and hop on his GoPED and try to find a gas station. (While packing for the trip, I told him that bringing his GoPED was silly and that we would never use it, but I was very thankful and humbled that he did because we definitely did need it!) Kyle was able to ride to the nearest gas station, about a mile away and get some gas for us. Thankfully that was all the was wrong and we were on our way again!
| The kids ended up waking up during our wait for gas |
| Kyle getting back and filling up the RV with gas |
More to come.....
